Fun Friday!

Happy Friday night!

I am currently in bed with sweat pants on because I got caught in the monsoon and got soaked, so I am not leaving my apartment for the rest of the night. 

This crappy weather does not help anyone’s mood. It is so blah and gross. Even just the cloudy days make you feel “down.” 

Yesterday I had originally wanted to go for a 4-5 mile run but I had another meeting after school and decided with the crappy weather and then getting home later than I wanted, I headed to the gym by work. I signed up for a Shredder class at 5pm but had some time to kill and since it wasn’t raining at the moment I did a 2 mile run through the parking lot/gym area outside. I just wanted to run- but it wasn’t really the best decision. My ankle felt funky and I think it had to do with the fact that it was weird and hilly and I just felt awkward running through a parking lot so my form was probably all off. 

I then headed into the Shredder class which was great. I am sore today especially in my core- so that is a plus!



Today we had a field trip to a Nature Center! It was so fun, we went on a mini hike!!

It was great being in the nature, something we don’t always get to do. I even think I got a mini sun burn! Woot! 

After work my meeting got cancelled so I was not sure what I wanted to do. I brought a tankini in my bag in case I wanted to try the pool at the NYSC by work. But then I decided that I need to be more prepared not just throw a tankini in a bag, more like bring a real work out swim suit, bring a hair brush for after, etc. etc. So I decided to head back down to Hoboken and try and beat some of the MDW traffic (I still caught it though).

I got dressed and headed to the gym and wasn’t sure what I was going to do. I felt like I did a lot of weights the past two days so I wasn’t sure I wanted to do Chest & Tris which was next up on my plan. My friend then texted me that she was in Hoboken for HH so I decided that I would make my gym day just an hour of fun and randomness. I think sometimes I can get in a routine funk and I don’t want to make working out boring or monotonous. Yes, I will continue my weight routine, leg work outs, and of course running but I want to make the gym fun too not boring! I have been trying to add in classes to change it up but tonight there weren’t any. Sooo here was my Fun Friday Workout:


They have these spin bikes with pre-programmed workouts! I did twenty minutes of this!!

Then 3 rounds (forgive me of the terrible names for this):

15 lb. dumbbell sit-ups

20 Squats with a Kettle Bell

Alternating leg roll in and out with Stability Ball (15 each leg)

10 second regular plank, 10 second arms up plank- 5 times

After that I did 5 minutes on the fun rope climber machine! Followed by some stretching. Total randomness but I do think I need to do that from time to time. I can be very rigid and planned and it is important to try different things and switch it up. If I don’t, I will resent going to the gym and it will feel like a chore, which is not what I want at all. I love sweating and working out, so if I do that by trying out different classes or made up workouts then why not!

After the gym I met up with my friend which was a fun great surprise because I didn’t know she would be in Hoboken! I started to get hungry for dinner and decided to head out just as the rain started. 

Before it got really bad outside I did stop in the Running Store to get Salted Caramel GUs and a Honey Stinger Waffle. In my last post I mentioned that I am going to practice with different nutrients. Although the thought of the gel seems kinda gross, I don’t wanna knock it until I try it. If I hate it, then oh well, I know.


I also checked the mail and look what came in:


Soooo excited to try these babies out! I LOVE this color!!! 

I am hoping tomorrow is okay out! I want to go to Central Park for a long run and try out my new running toys haha. We will see, if not I may save my long run for Sunday and do it by my parents house.

Left over butternut squash that is sauteed in coconut oil (I normally have it for breakfast) with some almond butter and chocolate chunks. Mmmmmmmm.

  1. Happy Friday night to you too!! You workout sounds pretty awesome! And it seems like you have a fantastic gym! I like that spin bike and a rope climber?! Awesome! Totally wish I could run my 10 ‘miler tomorrow at Central Park! Very lucky! Have a wonderful weekend!!

    1. Thank you, it was fun switching it up! I LOVE my new gym, I joined about 2 months ago after going to Planet Fitness for 2 years which was fine, but didn’t have a lot (only $10 a month). I call NYSC the Ritz Carlton because they have so much!! Have a wonderful weekend too!!
