Hanging on Harlem Hill, Music Free Run, and lots of Food!

Happy Memorial Day! Hope you are all enjoying time with friends and family. Special thanks and thoughts go out to those who have served in war or are currently serving in war. You are an inspiration to us all. ❀

Let’s get to my title!

Saturday morning I woke up nice and early headed into Central Park for a “me date” for Long Run Saturday. I wanted to do about 10 miles and instead I did two loops of Central Park aka went up Harlem Hill twice. Why do we runners put ourselves through crazy things?

I also wanted to test out my Salted Caramel GU, which was delicious! I took it very slow at Mile 6 and drank water (I carried a water bottle that day) with it. The texture didn’t bother me one bit and it didn’t bother my stomach. However, my pace was slower so I am curious how this would be if I went faster. I will probably need to test that out. The only thing I noticed was I felt more of a “crash” at mile 11, more than just tiredness from a long run. I will continue to explore more fueling options. I want to do my body right and feel the best I can during and after running.

After my run I headed to Whole Foods in the Columbus Circle Mall to buy my nice rip off lunch, yet so worth it! πŸ™‚

Later on I headed home to my parents house for the long weekend.

My mom told me I looked very pretty in my outfit so I needed to take an outfit pic πŸ˜‰

I then got a VERY NEEDED manicure and pedicure. In which I discovered that two of my toenails are about to fall off (sorry for the TMI). #runnerproblems Haha I actually felt like it was a right of runner’s passage.

Later on my fam and I got Mexican because I had a strong craving:

The next day I woke up and headed to the Gym for Chest & Tris, My Leg Workout, and Core Work. I used to think I HAD to do cardio everyyyy single days but some days I do solely strength training and I feel great from it!

After the Gym I decided to go to the Fresh Market because I had a $25 gift card to there from the baking basket that I had won in the winter. The Fresh Market is GORGEOUS and I would never be able to really afford anything there for a full grocery shopping. So I got “fun” things that I have wanted to try and some things that last longer!

Check out my loot:

Coconut water, chamomile tea, raisins, almonds, coconut peanut butter (OMG- SO GOODDDD, my first time trying it- I may eat the whole jar in a week), Justin’s Hazlenut butter packets, and a Coconut butter packet.

I got home and was hungryyyyyy. That coconut peanut butter on a sweet potato. Go. Do. It. Now.

I then decided to head to B&N to pick up a book for some MDW reading:

Amazing. I am not done yet but I am so interested in this book. I keep having “a-ha” moments as I read and I am really looking forward to trying out the Whole 30 challenge. I actually convinced my parents to purchase the book on their e-readers and we are all reading it now! I am hoping they will want to do the challenge too! I have really been exploring the idea of sticking to whole/natural/unprocessed foods and this book really explains the reason for why it is so good for our bodies. I will be sure to keep you posted on my plan/when I get started!

After that I headed to the town pool for some sun!

Later on my mom and I went out for salads (my dad was home sick with the stomach bug 😦 )

This was so good! Kale, beets, broccoli, and chicken!

After that some night time porch reading and dates with coconut butter πŸ™‚

This morning I woke up and headed to a nearby park for a lovely, music-free 6 miler. This was the first time I ran without music and it was great! I just got lost in my thoughts, listened to the nature, and was able to listen to my breathing. I did go at a pretty slow pace and I’m curious if that was because I haven’t had a rest day or lack of music. It doesn’t bother me at all to go at a slower pace, just curious as to why.

Such a gorgeous morning.

After that some food prep for the week:

This week’s meal is TJs sweet basil and pest chicken/turkey sausage with peppers and onions and quinoa.

Right now I am blogging from the porch and I am going to head down to the pool in a little while!

I hope you ALL have a beautiful Memorial Day!!!
