Wow what a title! I’m sorry I haven’t had a chance to blog all week! You would think I wouldn’t be so busy the last week of school but I was!
Monday was the last full day of school. My kids were so sweet and decorated the room for “best teacher ever” day! I am going to miss them! Later on I headed to the gym for my new shoulder and arm day workout that I am trying followed by my fav spin class! The spin class is at the gym by my work so I am going to have to make a point to try and drive up there a few times this summer to take the class.
Tuesday the last day (for kids) was a half day! We had a staff luncheon and I chose the BIG salad with walnuts, chicken, and blue cheese (minus the cranberries).
I got home nice and early after that so I decided to take advantage of the early day and go for a nice run:
It was interesting, no ankle pain for the first mile, then ankle pain on and off (more to that in a minute).
After that my dinner for this week (SO GOOD) I put avocado and plain greek yogurt on top of my “healthier nachos” along with a side of sauteed kale, roasted brussel sprouts and eggplant:
Wednesday was a longgg day at work with no kids then headed to the gym for my 20 minute elliptical workout plus plyometrics and leg day and core work.
I then headed to my parent’s house and we went out for Mexican food for my Dad’s birthday:
Quesadilla in whole wheat wrap, inside was shredded chicken, spinach, tomatoes, and cheese. So yummy and healthy! It is possible to make healthier choices when out to dinner!
Thursday was a long day of meetings fueled by $1.06 delicious Quick Check Coffee:
Thursday was a rest day because I had my appt with the sports medicine doc. He believes I have “chronic exertional compartment syndrome.” It has to do with the nerve and the muscle and the puffiness in my ankle is the muscle pushing out to make more room for the nerve. He said the best thing to do is ice/massage, some stretches, and most importantly work on my running gait. So I am good to go with running! 🙂 It is perfect because I am meeting with a running coach tomorrow so hopefully we can work on my gait together! I really have been speedier so I bet that has changed my gait. I think all my strength training has made me so much faster but I need all my body parts to catch up to it. Our bodies are so fascinating. I love learning about all the muscle groups and how exercises/food affect it all. So fascinating!
After that I headed home for a night out with my two best friends! We all have birthdays around the same time so we decided to take a painting class at Art E Vino in Hoboken which is BYOB. I sipped on a glass and enjoyed the process 😉
You trace the picture they have with carbon paper on the back.
Next you follow the teacher’s instructions and learn how to mix the paint to create the painting:
It was SO much fun and very relaxing. It was only about $20 through Groupon. You choose which night you want to do based on the painting they offer that night.
I was very proud of my work that I hung it right up:
I may buy some canvases and paint this summer and do some painting. It was so much fun!
Today was the last day for teachers! What a LONG week!
They let us take a “long lunch” and leave at 12!
So I headed home to do some cleaning before heading into the city for some much needed shopping and body pump!
Before body pump I did my 20 Minute Elliptical HIIT then core work:
I love this class SO much! I am so excited to be able to take it more this summer since I will have more time.
So while in the city I decided it was time to do some workout clothes shopping. I received a nice gift card from my class and figured that I am going to be living in workout clothes and bathing suits this summer so why not.
I first went to Marshalls and did VERY good:
The pink and gray shorts have cool compartments for keys or Gus! I also got my first pair of “booty shorts.” Haha I always see girls wear them in the gym and I was curious if I could rock them. Well I tried them on and I liked how mah booty looked in them so why not show off my hard work a little 😉 Haha I don’t think the technical term is “booty shorts” I just call them that. They may be used more for lifting days, not sure if they will be good for a run?
Then I found an amazing finddddd:
A Nathan Water belt for $20!!!! They sell these in the local running stores for $40 so I was super excited to find this! I probably won’t try it out tomorrow with my running coach but I plan on doing a long run on my birthday (which I cannot believe is next Saturday) so I will try it out then! Full report after that on how I like it.
THEN I bit the bullet and went in Lu Lu Lemon. All the girls at work just went and I was so envious of their beautiful workout clothes:
Ok so the tank was on sale for $39. I think that was the cheapest item of clothing in the store. The material felt amazing and how cool is the design. I then saw this bra for $42 and for some reason I felt like I could justify a $42 sports bra, don’t ask me why, I just did. That was my one “splurge” with my gift card and I feel like everything else was so reasonably priced and justified. I am the worst at spending money on myself especially on clothes and I always feel guilty for some reason. Hence why I am justifying it all on the blog now 😉 I will keep you posted I’m sure with outfit selfies on how I like them all!
Tonight I munched on some yummy strawberries & cookies and cream arctic zero:
I cannot wait to meet up with my running coach tomorrow! I will be in touch on how it goes! I have a workshop in the city all next week (starts Sunday) so I will still be very busy but I will do my best to update! After that I plan to do a lot more weekly blogging this summer!
