Hello friends!! Yes- here is the obligatory wrap-up of the year post 🙂 I will also be doing a food wrap-up for WIAW tomorrow!
I decided to scroll through the 6,000 + pictures on my phone (not necessary) and pick some highlights from each month!
My first race for the 9 +1 the the Joe Kleinerman 10k. My knee was killing me during and after this race, in which I began PT shortly after which completely changed my life for the better.
Winning my baking basket. Definitely changed my life for the better and for everyone else’s benefit as well 😉
Not a lot on the running front because I was sidelined due to my knee, just going to PT and building my strength. I did however have an AMAZING vacation to Miami with my best friend, which was so needed since we hadn’t seen sun/grass in months due to the terrible winter.
I volunteered at the NYC Half in the freezing cold for my 9 + 1 credit. It was a great experience despite the temps that day.
First race back after my injury the Spring Meltdown. I felt great and I didn’t have any knee pain (from what I remember).
My first half marathon!! This was such a momentous and special day. I felt so proud and accomplished for learning from my injury and moving forward. It was such an amazing feeling. This was also the first time my family saw me run a race and it felt so great to have their support!
Brooklyn HALF! I loved this race! I think there was just a ton of hype, the pre-party, the running to Coney Island, it just was an awesome race! My family came as well and we enjoyed a brunch in Cobble Hill afterwards. I loved it!!
June was a BIG running month for me!
I went out of my comfort zone and went to Brooklyn for a NYRR Happy Hour to meet other runners!
I ran the Oakley Woman’s 10k and meet Karina and Katrina from the Bravo TV show! I LOVED this race too! It was a great distance, we got an awesome tank top and we got flowers and pink bagels at the end!
The Queens 10k! This was an awesome race, I PRed and just felt great the whole time! I started to feel like a stronger runner! I also got to meet up with the lovely Jen afterwards!!
8 miles for my 28th birthday with my girl Jen!!
I PRed at the Giant’s Stadium 5k! I really don’t love 5ks because they are very fast and short but this was a great one. I loved that my parents were able to come and see my finish on the field. Def a really cool race!
Lester and I started our first sweaty Friday nights of Body Pump and Spin! We have been going strong on Fridays ever since!! I love this guy!!!
I took an amazing trip with my sister to Newport, RI. I had such a great time seeing the amazing city and enjoyed a gorgeous long run. Probably one of my favorite long runs of the whole year!
I met up with The Casual Tuesday branch of the NYInstarunners for my first run! Meeting these people has changed my life for the better! It’s so amazing to run with such fun and positive people! I love meeting up with them and I am looking forward to being part of the team in 2015!
I ran the Bronx 10 miler with my good friend from home! We had a great race!!
I PRed at the Staten Island Half! My dream was to run a half in under 2 hours and I did by 2 seconds! 01:59:58!!! This race was also my 9th for the 9 + 1, qualifying me for the 2015 NYC Marathon!
I joined my friend at her beautiful gym for a Spin-a-thon to raise money for Chron’s.
I ran the HoBOOken 5k and turned it into a half marathon!
That same weekend I placed 3rd for my age group in another 5k!
I ran the Dash to the Finish Line 5k the day before the Marathon!
The next day I volunteered as a Food Bag Distributor at the Marathon. It was such an incredible experience!
I ran with the NYInstarunners in NYC and decided to officially join the team!!
WOW! What an incredible year. To think I started in January with knee pain landed in PT where I learned all about how to take care of myself as runner with cross training, building my core, lifting, and stretching to running a half marathon in under 2 hours and joining a running team. 2014 was amazing. I have grown so much as a runner and a person. I have learned so much about myself and have become so much happier and healthier inside and out.
I am not one to make resolutions but rather have goals insight. So my main goal is to run the 2015 NYC Marathon and do all that I have to do to train for it this whole year. Official training starts in July, but the off season is just as important.
I feel so blessed to have accomplished all that I have accomplished in a year, met the people I have met, and experienced all that I have experienced. Life truly is a beautiful thing and I plan on continuing to enjoy every moment of it!
On to reach more amazing things! ❤
