Hello everyone! Here is a recap of my workouts this week!
After a full day of eating it felt great to get in the gym for the 5am workout club. I did Core work, Plyometrics, Speed/Agility/Quickness, and a Full Body workout alternating between strength and stability exercises, followed by 10 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical.
It seems like it rains every Tuesday for our group run! I literally was falling asleep before our run (we meet at 7pm) so I decided to get in some miles before otherwise I wouldn’t make it.
I ended up getting a total of 7.5 miles because I ran straight home after the group run because I was so soaked and didn’t want to walk in the rain. My ankle was bothering me a lot after this run. I have compartment syndrome and it flares up from time to time and it decided to do it after this run.
Another full body workout alternating between strength and stability exercises at the gym after work.
My friend and I ran after work together and it is pretty hilly/trafficy by where we ran. We kept having to dodge cars and I think my form was just all off. After the soreness of Tuesday’s run, my ankle did not feel hot after this run either.
After a LONG week I was so excited to kick some booty at pump and spin. At spin the first half of the ride was an 18 minute seated climb with ladder drills, the longest being 2 and a half minutes then back down the ladder. The last 30 seconds we had to give it all we got (out of the saddle with heavy resistance) and I think I almost puked hahaha. What a ride!!! It was intense but I felt so freaking awesome for accomplishing it!
My ankle wasn’t feeling so hot, but it was gorgeous out and I couldn’t resist long run Saturday. I know, I know, I know, I should be listening to my body, but I didn’t. My run was OK, my legs felt just OK and the ankle felt OK, but after the ankle did not feel OK. 😦
I have spring break coming up so I think a trip to the Sports Medicine Doctor will be happening. I am so worried because they say the only true cure for compartment syndrome is surgery and ain’t nobody got time for that! Especially with a fall marathon in the plans. My doctor had said it usually can be cured with altering your gait/shoes, etc. but when you google it, google says other things (why do I google things?). So now I am going to be smart and take the week off of running and see if that is what I need. I may need to get some new sneakers too. I have a 5k next weekend so I am hoping to be okay for that, but skipping two week day runs will not kill me at all. I am going to see if I can try some spin classes instead this week! Fingers crossed that all I need is a little rest and that’s it.
I planned to go to yoga but decided that a full day of rest would be better for my ankle. Hoping the rest and rest from running this week is what I need!
