Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and a great 4th of July (if you are in America 🙂 )!
Instead of updating with my “Weekly Workouts” I am going to be documenting each week of my marathon training. It is my weekly workouts, just a different name. 😉
To kick off Week 1 I decided to take a Body Pump class in Hoboken since it was my last day of school and I did not feel like going to the gym at 5am before work. The instructor was a sub and she used very old tracks (she was supposed to do the new release) so I don’t think she was super current. She also completely skipped the ab track to save time, so I did some plank work and stretching/foam rolling after.
My goal is to stretch and foam roll as much as I can during my training. I need to stay healthy.
PT in the morning and 3.5 mile run with my group! This was my first time running with them since my injury and it was great. I am still slow, but they waited for me and kept me going. We of course had our half way dance break!
I was going to take a 6am Body Pump class but it was thunderstorming really bad so I decided to go back to bed because walking a mile to the gym did not seem safe. I did a strength training and plank workout from Jen followed by a 3.5 mile run.
I went for a 5 mile run followed by PT. I was super sore and my ankle was bothering me a little and I realized it was because my plan had me running 3 days in a row. I’m really not sure why that idea sounded good on paper but I have made some tweaks to it. I cannot run 3 days in a row!! I never would run two days in a row! My new plan has some two days, but I will write a post about it soon!
Ohhh I will also write a post soon about that new toy on my wrist! 😉
My usual Pump + Spin was cancelled due to the holiday, so I took a Total Body Conditioning and Spin class at the gym up by my work.
This was my first time using a heart rate monitor while working out and it was awesome! It really pushed me to see how far I could push my HR to work! I really don’t care too much about the calories I burned, but seeing your HR move up and down is just so fascinating to me!
Fourth of July! Rest Day!
Birthday Long Run!
I went to the park by my parent’s house for my first solo long run of marathon training. It was also my birthday run and it felt great to get in some miles to celebrate the last year of my 20s. My ankle felt fine, my right side was a little achey randomly (I think it was sore from the Total Body Conditioning class). I also brought a towel and “the stick” to stretch and roll before I headed home. It was gorgeous weather and a great way to kick off an amazing birthday (can’t wait to share all the details)!
Who ran a race for 4th of July?
